Return & Refund Policy

This Refund Policy governs all payments made through https://nmuc.edu.my and applies to tuition fees, registration fees, administrative fees, examination fees, hostel fees, programme fees, and other education-related charges payable to Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC). 

1. General Policy
All payments made through the NMUC online payment platform are subject to NMUC’s prevailing policies, procedures, and approval requirements. 

Refund requests shall be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are not automatically guaranteed. 

2. Eligible Refund Circumstances
Refunds may be considered under the following circumstances: 

  • Overpayment of fees 
  • Duplicate payments 
  • Programme cancellation by NMUC 
  • Approved withdrawal from a programme 
  • Approved deferment of studies 
  • Visa rejection for international students (subject to supporting documentation and institutional policies) 
  • Other circumstances approved by NMUC Management 

Supporting documents may be required before any refund request can be processed. 

3. Non-Refundable Fees
Unless otherwise approved by NMUC, the following fees are generally non-refundable: 

  • Application fees 
  • Registration fees 
  • Administrative fees 
  • Processing fees 
  • Payment gateway charges 
  • Any fees specifically stated as non-refundable under programme terms and conditions 

4. Refund Request Procedure
Students or applicants seeking a refund must: 

  • Submit a written refund request to the relevant department. 
  • Complete any required refund application forms. 
  • Provide supporting documents where applicable. 
  • Provide accurate banking details for refund purposes. 

Incomplete applications may result in processing delays. 

5. Refund Processing

  • Approved refunds will be processed within a reasonable period following approval. 
  • Refunds will normally be made through the original payment method where practicable or to a bank account designated by the applicant or student. 
  • Processing times may vary depending on banking institutions and administrative procedures. 

6. Outstanding Balances
NMUC reserves the right to offset any approved refund against outstanding fees, charges, penalties, or other amounts owed by the student before releasing the balance refund. 

7. Currency and Banking Charges
Where applicable: 

  • Any foreign exchange differences shall be borne by the student or applicant.
  • Bank charges, transfer fees, and intermediary bank fees may be deducted from the refund amount. 

8. Right to Refuse Refunds
NMUC reserves the right to reject any refund request that: 

  • Does not comply with institutional policies; 
  • Contains inaccurate or misleading information; 
  • Is unsupported by the required documentation; or 
  • Falls outside the approved refund criteria. 

9. Amendments
NMUC reserves the right to amend this Refund Policy at any time without prior notice. The latest version published on the website shall prevail.
